Total may use Dunkirk terminal for Russian Yamal LNG supplies
MOSCOW, May 24 (PRIME) -- French energy giant Total is considering using the Dunkirk LNG terminal at the port of Dunkirk, known in French as Dunkerque, for liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from Russia’s Yamal LNG project to Europe, Total CEO Patrick Pouyanne said at a shareholder meeting on Tuesday.
“We planned to use this terminal for our own needs – in order to deliver gas from our giant project with Russia – Yamal LNG, which is being developed on the Yamal Peninsula, to Europe,” he said.
Total holds 10% in Yamal LNG. The Yamal LNG project envisages construction of a 16.5-million-tonne LNG plant on the basis of the Yuzhno-Tambeiskoye field on the Yamal Peninsula. Russian independent gas producer Novatek holds 50.1% in the project.
